    D4 SDV6 Engine Oil

Hi all ... wanting to try a new engine oil to suit my 2013 SDV6 and wondering if anyone is using Nulon Apex+ in 5W-40 Full Synthetic?

The VIN on my vehicle tells me that I DON'T have a DPF and after a lot of searching around and through specs .. I'm interested in trying this newer Nulon oil.

I have been using Nulon and Penrite in the past in a 5W-30 but want to move to a 40 grade due to the higher temps here in Western Australia.

Conversely .. can anyone see any problems in using this oil?

Nup. I now use Penrite 5w40 full synthetic. I changed from Penrite 5w30 once the engine had done 150,000kms. Like you, I don't have a DPF. I have no knowledge of Nulon so can't comment on that. But I do change the oil and filter every 6 months or 10,000km or thereabouts.

    OK .. thanks.
I've been doing changes at 8-10,000Km too.
Are you using their straight synthetic 5w-40 .. 'HPR 5' or 'Enviro+' in the Penrite?

Enviro + works as well. You need to check the label on each if it meets thr Ford oil specification as stated in your vehicles handbook. If it doesn't, find one that does. Both Penrite HPR5 and Enviro + do meet the spec. I ran the car on '+' without issues. A quality engine flush is suggested if changing brands, and also gets a lot of sludge out.

My manual specifies Ford WSS-M2C934-B which is an ACEA C1 oil ... neither of these oils meet that spec.
When you change the viscosity .. to 40 .. I suppose that spec goes out the window ... so what specification should one now be looking for?
The oil I selected .. Nulon Apex+ is actually rated as A3/B4 which from what I can see now is a mid SAP's oil .. and how important this is I don't know!
I note that the HPR 5 at least has the same A3/B4 rating as the Nulon but the API is different .. SP compared to SN/CF respectively.
Unless you're in the automotive game .. the whole thing is very confusing.

    Another HPR5 user
Switched to 5w40 about 30k kms ago
    Now on 185k
FWIW…and maybe pure coincidence/ luck / other factors…vehicle is not “using” as much oil
On the 5w30..by service time (10k)..vehicle had dropped about 1/2 on the electronic oil reading.
    On this oil..no movement
Again, many other factors may be in play, but engine is running well on the 5w40.
    I’m happy

When you guys say HPR5 .. do you mean HPR5 or HPR Diesel 5?
Two different spec oils and one FULL synth the other Semi-Synth.
