    Hidden Towpro Elite

    Hi all. I've bought a Jayco Penguin and want to tow it. I had a towpro installed by ULR when I bought my 2014 D4 in 2014. Brakes dont work on proportional as blue mode isn't their ( green manual mode only). Now I haven't towed since I picked vehicle up. I test with light and manual works. Looked in left rear compartment and see wires coming from front on that side! Wiring looks correct with diode. Looked under steering wheel and no controller. No wiring going to battery in front. I have a suspicion that controller is in the back off 30 amp tow battery wire. D4 wiring has a towing junction. Anyone else had this problem?

    The controller is usually mounted in the rear with only the switch wires running to the front.
    Are you sure that you have the correct conditions when trying to change modes? I refer to the manual rather than try to remember.

    In my D3 i mounted the controller under the centre console in front of the gear shifter with a dedicated 50a power cable and the dial near the handbrake switch, wiring then run under the sill trim to the rear trailer harness connection.

    Thanks guys. I never thought to ask where they had placed the controller. I'll ring ULR and see if someone has a clue. Tried all conditions as per manual and forums. Will probably pull car apart to find it.

    Can the diode break? I reckon the controller is not getting brake light signal and won't change to proportional.

    Was the controller ever calibrated? IIRC the trailer's brakes have to be connected so the installer may not have had access to a suitable trailer.

    Hi Graeme. The tow pro elite auto calibrates without any trailer attached. I want to cold start it so need to know where the battery lead goes.

    No it does not. I have one. The first time it’s powered up it waits a until a trailer is connected before calibrating. It needs to have a trailer attached to calibrate. THEN, once this is done, it holds the calibration until it next loses power. You know it’s calibrating as the light flashes gradually changing from green to blue if I remember correctly.

    It's been 9 years since I installed mine and I've not been inclined enough to check my recollection with the instructions.

    I disconnect my power more than I tow so I’m very clued up on how it works. So trust me Hidden Towpro Elite
