If the fault won't clear or keeps returning perhaps the cable is gummed up in the sheath and is not moving causing the actuator motor to overheat.
D4 EPB fault when attempting to apply it, possibly existing since the body was R&R'd. The EPB doesn't apply.
It seems to be a common DTC if the shoes need adjusting. The shoes were just now cleaned and adjusted but no change.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion - I was hoping that the mechanism / cables weren't gummed-up from lack of use. The shoes are original and the disks too although those weren't fitted for 200K kms but the shoes and drums are as new.
The IIDtool shows the module voltage as 0V and motor current 0.00005A (nothing) even when the switch is pulled or pressed. I've confirmed battery voltage 12V+ at the pins in the connector at the module and have now seen in the wiring schematic that the module's earth connection is at a bolt 1.5m of cable away. I'll have a cuppa and maybe recover somewhat from the humidity then put the car back on ramps to find the earth connection / bolt which I hope hasn't been reattached.
Update: Unfortunately the earth point is inside the body in the left rear somehere and it wouldn't have been touched to remove the body. There are no unattached earth connectors near the earth studs inside behind the light cluster which is where I suspect the earthing occurs. The large connector above the chassis behind the left air-spring looks intact.
