I've developed what I'd describe somewhere between a whistle and woosh left hand side of vehicle when driving, only when under load, nothing when rev at stand still.
I thought it might be leak in the boost so took off the Turbo hoses / pipes. The lower and the middle are fine. As per the first 4 photos the upper is delaminating with some of the inner stuck on metal pipe, but no clear crack / leak to surface. There is a small spot in middle not clear in photos where I can see the orange hose through the inner section.

While I've this and a couple of heat shields off I can see oil / soot under what I think is coming out and down the heat shield / front of exhaust manifold area in photo 5

and there is also some soot around where the cross over is bolted to the turbo (and possibly further in and back) photos 6 to 8

I've read that manifold is a sharper a ticking sound and cross over is more chuffing / flutter and boost is a whoosh sound
My sound is some where between a chuff / flutter and whoosh and varies a little depending on load and temp
It generally takes a few minutes of driving or a steep hill to get it, that's why I thought boost leak.
It will come at mid revs and drop off again with revs or when revers goes over a certain amount, but also depending on how steep hill is, etc
No codes and while typical lag on accelerator I don't think I've any meaningful loss of power.
No smoking, might get a short puff of black smoke if I sink the boot and hasn't been done for a while, but no ongoing smoking and I have no noticeable Oil loss and ground under the engine is dry
I did have right side manifold fixed nearly 2 years ago, there was a couple of broken bolts, it was sharper sound and intermittent and I could get it at cold / standstill dabbing the accelerator, this does seem different.
I'll replace the upper Turbo hose anyway.
Just looking for some general pointers but obvious questions I have are
1. Does this sound more like a boost leak or with the oil / soot is it likely to be one of the manifold or cross over
2. Could the Soot / Oil at front of manifold area be an oil seep from further up, e.g. EGR ?
3. Would there end to be a light dusting of soot around flanges, manifold joints anyway at 230K and 15 years
4. Any views based on description whether it is a boost leak, or manifold or cross over or where I should be trying to get my borescope into i.e. with points 2 and 3 could I be chasing red hearings
5. What's the risk of continuing to drive if no codes and appears to drive normally other than this
If its manifold or cross over while I hear they can be done with Body on I am a but time poor so will likely be into Indy, but I'll like to be armed with as much info as possible when I call them this week.

Ok, a cup of tea and bit more poking around its clear the Turbo to Manifold Gasket is blown, there is a some soot on the heat shield in front of it and the gasket is displaced and clearly blown

So my questions changes
Will still need to work out what the soot / oil at front of manifold above where the water hose sets into engine block is and may well still be broken stud / warp here with leak, but this patch is a little oily.
Primary question now is how hard to replace turbo gasket, I've taken hoses off before to replace AC compressor so that side is good, but I see the 2 nuts on the side where I can see the Gasket issue but there is another bolt / nut on engine side, does it require body off to do this ? can I access from above ? its only 5 years old and if I use plenty of penetrant in advance and some heat is it likely to break ? any advice / tips appreciated
Note the Turbo was changed ~5/6 years ago nuts and bolts look healthy.
