    D3 engine mounts

Mate has a D3 TDV6 has left engine mount is cactus.
Besides the very expensive LR ones, are the Britcrap or others (mostly made in china) any good.
Was quoted $850 and another one for $1100 plus parts.
    He will be replacing both.
    Thanks

Whenever I do a job on these bastard cross-breeds of Ford and Landrover, I ask myself a simple question. "Is this a job I want to do twice?". The answer inevitably leads me to buy genuine parts. No issue using "OEM" parts for easy stuff though. I've only bought britpart three times. A set of rubber door bumpers, a door lock assembly and a brake light switch.

The rubber bumpers turned to jelly in 9 months, the door lock assembly lasted about 18 months before failing and the brake switch is kept in its box in the car as a "hail mary".
I bought LR door bumpers at great expense and 5 years on they're still good. I rebuilt the original door lock with a new motor and that's good too.

I also went genuine for the clutch and associated bits.

Very rarely hear of engine mount issues. The originals must be very good.

I just replaced my first ever wheel bearing front right after 333,xxx kms. Remaining three still original.

How did you determine it was the front right?I have front end noise I assumed was the diff, but there's nothing in the oil so I'm looking further.

My Volvo was easy. No front diff, so front end bearing noise was "what it was".

It started over the weekend a droning grrrrr noise starting after some hard 4wding. I was thinking diff which I had recently changed the oil. After driving home I was super confident it was the front right. On shaking the top of the wheel on front lawn I could hear a click. On the hoist today it was text book 101 audible wobble in 12-6 hand positions. On removing the bearing it was like gravel instead of bearings.

I bought some items off Shane (Shed) LR he wrecked so I’m running his far from new front bearing I have as spares. The remaining 3 are original. The fronts are pretty easy to replace so I’m not worried if I get 20-100k kms out of them but backs will be new when I do them.

Interesting if you watch LR Time and LHD videos they wear out the left front first so it seems.

All quiet again now but I think I’m entering a new zone of maintenance jobs.
