The main issue I often see is torn sidewalls.
Our work runs introductory 4x4 drive days for customers & there's been a few suffer this. The 17" tyres don't seem as bad.

						Hi fellow D3's,
I'm interested in your thoughts on the capabilities of the standard fit tyres and how capable they are for track/mud work. I've had no drama in sand so far. ie I see some of the more interesting GCLRO trips require AT tyres.
Being an SE I've got the standard 18".
Cheers.

Hey Mark,
Bit more information from my PM to you, I used the HPs on all sorts of terrain, and overall they didnt do to bad aside from the weak sidewalls where I shafted 2. Also I had 19's and no options at all until finally Good year bought back the MTR's. I looked at those at $555 a tyre, the HPs for mine were around $450 a tyre
, so got some GMAX 18 inc tyres with All Terrain Grabbers. Great ride on road, much better and stronger off road and a lot more confidence in tackling some of the harder terrain.......and at around $300 a tyre. If you are looking at doing more off road, best bet is when it is time to change tyres, get rid of the HPs and get something more suitable. ALso seems there is becoming more and more options for 18inch rims,
Regards
Stevo

Have fitted Cooper ST to the D3 and have one new Goodyear Wrangler 235 17R 17 going cheap for anyone in the Gold Coast area. PM me if interested.
Have been through 2 sets of the Goodyear Wrangler HP's in 70 000ks. Was surprised that they went as well as they did. Did the Kimberleys and Broome without a single problem. Have done side walls on tracks around here though. Now have a set of General Grabber AT2's in the 255/60R18 size. Currently very happy with these both on and off road.

from next Friday as we head to Broome.
I bought 5 tyres at $295 each fitted & balanced From Dog Tyred at Kallangur Best
price I could find in Bris and only 3 day wait for them.
I had a prob. with the cruise control last week could not reset it after disingaging
without turning off the ignition and restarting. Fixed at service on Mon said the switch was not working
