    D3 Spare wheel mounting

    Hi All,
I notice that a few of the D3s in http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php't=46523
have rear-mounted spares. Are they all the same brand mounts? Where did you get them?

    Thanks,

    Thanks Stevo. It's a nice-looking unit.

However, I am also considering the Mitchell Bros tow hitch and it seems that they don't fit together (by 5mm or so).

    Hi RichardK,
    Thanks for your reply.

I'll have to see if the 4x4intelligence unit is compatible with the Mitchell Bros tow hitch.

    Hi All,
    Things are hotting up.

When I bought my D3 a week or so ago, I noticed that the spare was 235/70R17 (the original size) whereas the road tyres were BFG 265/70R17.

Today, I went to have the spare replaced with a BFG that I'd ordered in.

All went fine, until they tried to fit the new spare under the car. It wouldn't fit - not until we'd let the air out.

So, now I have a spare of the correct size, but need to transfer my compressor from the D1 "real quick", or I'm being a "thrill seeker".

I'm not happy with this arrangement as dust etc is likely to get into the spare, preventing a proper seal.

As I have ordered the Mitchell Bros tow hitch, I can't use the Kaymar rear wheel carrier as they don't fit together - at the moment.

The only possible alternative seems to be the 4x4intelligence rear wheel carrier, however I don't know if it will fit either.

    Any advice appreciated.
