Thread: D3-Extension mirrors for towing

Hi Bill,
I went through the same process a few months ago. We have a Jayco Freedom Pop top van. I went with a product called "Suck-it-and-See". They simply stick onto your existing mirrors. Very easy to put on and take off. Don't think they are sold in Australia yet. I ordered mine form the UK. Following link shows how they work. Found these recommended on a UK Discovery 3 Web Site.

Had to pay a bit to get them delivered here, but they are so easy to use. Work well on the D3 Mirrors. Only about 30 seconds to put them on or take them off. Then simply use the D3 electric mirror adjustment to get the right view.

Thanks Discomaniac. I was concerned about the mirrors that are strapped to the Disco mirrors, they all look as though they could work loose from the mounting. If these ones withstand the buffeting from passing trucks they look like a very neat solution. I notice the video refers to flat and convex versions but the order section shows only the flat model—better for more accurate estimation of distances.

I use a Convex on the left and a flat on the right. Seems to work ok. I was worried about trucks as well. No problems so far. Just make sure your mirrors are clean before you stick on the extened mirrors.

Looks good! What did you end up paying with freight included?
I presume that general wind pressure and buffeting from trucks will not damage the original mirror mechanism.

Do you really need them?

I've never had a problem towing the boat with the mirrors on the D3. The boat is as long as most caravans and as wide at the end.

Something in the road regulations says that you are supposed to see down the sides of the van. Makes lane changing on freeways easier, and for reversing into tight caravan park sites. About 40 pounds for freight, less than a week to get them here.
