They are as noisy as the Goodyear Wranglers, a terrible tyre as fitted new to most Discoverys from new. I had to change tyres at 30,000, they wore scollops in the tread. Both tyres were 255/60 R18s.
Just curious did you get the wheel alignment checked?

My D3 has the same rumbling with the naff Wranglers, and I was wondering if the wheel alignment is part of the problem. Or is it just driving around town too much?

These weren't available back in March 2008 when I created this thread. There are many more 18" options available now.

    I also wasn't looking for AT tyres - I have the 110 for off-roading!

It is time for me to take the plunge and order a set of tyres, I have been recommended the Pirelli's but after reading this....

I don't think so, the other option are the coopers....

    Further reading and thought required.

Load rating 108 isn't enough for a D3. You need 109 as per the door placard, although overseas models are 110.

Pirelli Scorpions are a good tyre but overly noisy around town and the wear rate is reasonable but not exceptional.

just my comments here. Our 08 D3 is on it's 2nd set of the Wranglers and we have only just hit 47,000kms.

Front tyres are about stuffed but still life in the rears. As we will need new tyres very soon I am most reticant to put another set of these Wranglers on but have no idea what to actually have fitted.

We don't do much off road, a little beach work but hardly enough to warrant putting anything but a road tyre on.

    cheers

    Hi,

I got the Coopers put on the Disco, no more rumble etc. Turns and steers as it should. I am going to get a wheel alignent done at the next service.

    Cheers,

    Anyone tried the Michelins?Michelin Australia

I ran Michelins on the D2 and got 100 000 plus off them.

    rims.
looking at 85% + on road and the rest off, any info on what you think would suit?
    Few reckon Coopers ?

    Pirelli Scorpion ATR 255/60/18

Hi, Purchased above as replacements for the Wranglers after 48,000. Never really happy with the Wranglers however Pirellis now produce vibration when doing 110 on the freeway.

Could the All Terrain Tyres be the cause of the vibration?

    Any thoughts / help appreciated.

For me there wasn't much of an option as the Wranglers were a no go, and after seeing negative commentary on the Pirelli's, they were also knocked out.

The old man got his D3 S with Coopers on it, and they appear to be wearing ok, so I went down that path. Time will tell if I made the right choice, but at least I have the 60,000K warranty.
