Thread: Facelift D3....

    LR3 2009

I was negotiating with a LR dealer recently for a new LR Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE to be delivered later in the year so the dealer indicated that it would be a 2009 build (which start July/August in the UK). The dealer went through the various option changes for the 2009 but no mention of engine changes (but would they tell me anyway?). Changes seemed to be in trim & finish (as already noted in this thread) plus variations/upgrades to some options such as SatNav, Bluetooth Phone Integration and Premium ICE.
The "maturity" of the vehicle and the 2.7l TDV6 diesel and the lower "real" fuel consumption compared to its main 4WD competitor (Toyota LC 200) were important factors in selecting the LR3.

With the price of diesel now up to .30 cents dearer than ULP it's a very long time before you begin to get your money back for paying a premium for the diesel engine.

Is the Diesel v's ULP position now swinging to ULP?

    Don't know
    Feral,
I complained to the ACCC (aka Toothless Tiger) about diesel pricing and was told that the price in Australia is based on the wholesale price in Singapore.

I was in Singapore this week and at the bowser, diesel was SG$1.714 per litre and unleaded (95) was SG$2.019 per litre.

Then factor in that SG$1 = AU$0.77 and I am getting really annoyed at the profiteering of the Australian fuel companies and the inaction of the ACCC and governments.

Time for another rocket to the ACCC.

    Regards,
    Rob

of course you know that the Singapore government subsidises retail diesel right? and this means that retail diesel is cheaper than wholesale diesel!! Fuel excise is about $0.40 per litre on petrol... so taking that into account AND the fact that transport from Singapore to Australia costs money, I think you will find fuel in Australia is CHEAP.

what about the TAX on fuel ? what about the higher diesel price? we in Australia already pay very high prices for cars. Oh yes, and the increased luxury car tax.....

    mcmanusd, thanks for the info.

I heard from disco3 forum that the new TDV6 3.0 engine will come in 2010 and the hybrid diesel is under RD. However, it's also commented that the 3.0 would perhaps be detuned to meet EURO emmission restrictions.

please feel free to correct me.

those colour codedwheel arch flares are no good in the scrub...my sons (soon to be sold he wants a fender)navara has them and his are covered with bad scratches as they are the widest part of the vehicle......give me the unpainted ones on the d2 anyday

i think its got a bit of pathfinder in it not prado

they have definitely done the jap thing.....a bit of paint here new bummper there minimum changes& now an updated model

at least when they updated the d2 there were a lot of changes.....better headlights, cdl returned, torque increased for auto models, less cab noise to name a few

the sad thing is landrover probably have lost access to fords components & their r&d.it is with this help they have been able to develope the best & most advanced 4x4s on the planet.

it will be interesting to see how they go with ..ta..ta:

ummm those fuel prices....isnt it time to build a bridge...the high prices are hear to stay

    cheers

I think you can order non colour coded bumpers from factory. Ask the dealer.
