Thread: D3 Rocky Track

I believe it, I have had Discos now for 14 years and at a recent Dealer Drive day in the Blue Mountains for new D3 owners, I was blown away by this model's capabilities. Also had some fun on a disused footy field, really a dirt pan, with the the DSC disengaged. Scary but I can assure you it works.

Traction Control is a Great thing.....

Rocky has its days where its harder than other days...
If its wet, its damn hard... if its had stacks of traffic, then the rocks get moved into the holes and the legdes get wider... so its easier....

Either way.. Well done...

Amazing in rock crawl mode, easy to control. kept up with lifted Patrol at Menai, in new vehicle, so I was being cautious.
They were quite surprised at its ability, especially with OEM tyres.

Caver, completely agree (of course) with your comments re the D3's capability, even in stock form. But I've developed a theory, through first hand experience, that the capability of the car masks the shortcomings of the tyres off road. The stock wranglers are terrible in mud and easily holed in the sidewall.

Agree, Wranglers didn't even last 30000ks. I wanted ATs but none were available at the time so got Cooper HTs and guess what; no punctures.

Hang on, I didn't think you cold get MT's to fit a D3 yet?? what were they and what size?

There are quite a few MTs that fit the D3 now (if you have the 17" rims). There's one or two aggressive ATs available for the 18" rims - Kumho and BFG, maybe others.
