    Gearbox update

Hopefully I have cured my gearbox oil leak, it seems as though the leak was due to either a cracked or faulty seal on the transmission sump, I fitted a new one on the weekend, what a cow of a job took me most of the weekend the main culprits being the relining up of the two RH engine mount bolts. I guess if there is a next time the experience will help me do it in a few hours.
I still have a leak but it is very tiny, could yet be some residue in the bell housing.

Good news is that I can now plan some 4 wheel driving

As a further piece of information, the oil used in these boxes is ESSO ATF 71141, a very good oil which in fact is stated as being a "for life" oil, the cost of this oil at LR dealers is approx $80 a litre, the same oil is also a part for both BMW and VW, both at less than $30 a litre, part no's are BM-88881700546X and G052162A2 respectively

    Thanks for the update Richard!

I'm coming up at Xmas and have booked into JRT on the monday before. Needs the 144k service and the brake fluid replaced. I had the shocks installed by southerns when I had the compressor replaced and some other stuff done.
