    Discovery 3 05 or 07

I am looking at buying a Disco3 and am not sure whether to go an 05 V8 SE or 07 V8 SE.

Can anyone tell me if there were any major changes between the 05 and 07.

    Thanks,

    Ben

There's not much difference that I've seen. Maybe a colour or two difference & maybe a radio spec change but that's about it.

The 05 will be out of warranty whereas the 07 will still be under warranty.

What's the current prices for these two ages of vehicle ?

The '05 was a really bad build/component quality vehicle.
Make sure you have the Recall info. etc. on any '05 and that it has
all been sorted and check with the LRA service centre who did the work.
You don't want to buy a problem lemon.

    Look through this site for a few hours to see what I mean ;

They have their problems like any new model but that's going a bit far IMO.

Besides, any 2005 D3 that had a problem would have been well sorted by now.

Don't you believe it Scott .....

There are 2 V8 HSE out of Cairns (that I know) are passed warranty and
still have cruise control failures( soft & hardware ) , plastics faults
ie. interior door and dash material , air susp. leakage , rear park
sensor intermittent , terrible fuel consumption figures , ICE freeze ups.

I'd want a complete paperwork copy of all work before
    touching an '05 with a pole !

    What a load of rubbish!

Same old story, "I know of....."

Cruise control is a simple clock spring replacement - Not a problem I've experienced.

Rear sensors - never had a problem.

    ICE - mine's never frozen.

Interior panels is a new one on me!! Mine take a bit of punishment and they're as good as new.

Air susp problems on early 05's were fixed under the 'enhancement'. (If you find one that's not been 'enhanced' then it probably hasn't been serviced either so I wouldn't touch it for that reason).

    V8 fuel consumption??? Doh! It's a V8!!!!

    As Jamo posted x2

My wife's 05 V6 SE D3 is one of the most reliable vehicles, 4x4 or cars, we have ever owned.

X3 I had an 05 HSE V8 and it was very reliable...had a few very minor glitches at the beginning...fixed with a software upgrade and sold it at 105,000 kms to my brother. He has had it since April, is over 115,000 kms and not a sniff of an issue. Not saying some might not have had their probs...but 2 "05"s does not warrant tarring all with the same brush,

    Regards
