    Timing belt hassles

    All was going well.............started Saturday about 11, everything ready at 5 for installation today....................that's when it went pear shaped........... the timing belt kit that I ordered (belt plus tensioner and bolt) turned out to be just a timing belt and the wrong one at that, so now I can't do anything until Tuesday when I contact my parts supplier and then I guess I'll have to pray that there is a kit available.
    I take some of the blame............I checked out the jockey wheels and rear belt kit but not the front belt kit.......................live and learn

    Commiserations Richard, although its good to see someone taking a D3 apart instead of moaning about how complex they are!

    How did the wrong kit come about? Wrong part number or did you order the kit quoting the model and the wrong kit arrived?

    By the way, don't forget the DETAILED photos of the exercise.

    Good luck

    Have taken a few pics but is a mission when my hands are black and would need to wash them before using the camera. I have followed the GTR instructions and so far they haven't let me down.

    I ordered the parts by name, timing belt, tensioner and bolt but I should have checked it out when I picked it up, not to say though that the supplier should have checked what he received an realised that the parts were incorrect and incomplete.

    Have to learn to take it apart;

    1. I don't trust the dealers
    2. I don't like paying their prices
    and 3. Some of the places we get to I need to understand what makes it tick

    You are a very brave man!

    Good to see someone getting their hands dirty with a D3.

    Didn't the GTR manual list the PartNos required?
