Rain must have been bad for him to feel he needed to use them.

    FTR:

    Road Users Handbook Sec1 144

    Fog lights
Front and rear fog lights must only be used in fog or rain, or when
conditions such as smoke and dust limit your vision. It is a legal
requirement that once conditions improve and you can see more clearly,
the front and rear fog lights are switched off.
If your vehicle is not fitted with fog lights you may use your headlights
during the day in these adverse conditions.

Thats a badly worded bit legal explanation.
So can you turn your headlights on during the day if conditions are not adverse?

    This might clarify things:

AUSTRALIAN ROAD RULES - REG 217
    217—Using fog lights

    (1) The driver of a vehicle fitted with front fog lights or rear fog lights must not operate the fog lights unless the driver is driving in fog or other hazardous weather conditions causing reduced visibility.

    Offence provision.

    (2) In this rule:

"front fog light" means a light (other than a headlight) fitted to the front of a vehicle to improve illumination of the road in fog, snowfall, heavy rain or dust clouds.

"rear fog light" means a light (other than a brake light, a tail light, a number plate light or a reversing light) fitted to the rear of a vehicle to make the vehicle more easily visible from the rear in fog, snowfall,

Great news for me!, it was a blown fuse!, thanks gents, you saved me a trip down to the dealers. Perhaps it's me, but they could've placed the fuse box somewhere more accessible where it is. I dropped the fuse twizer and a fuse while trying to test the fogs lamps. It took me forever to fish them out.

    Anyway, problem solved.

and yup, fog rolled (while raining) and while driving down the mountain.

    cheers!

True, I should and will. Do you know where abouts it would be or where I would start looking?

    thanks again.

I have an ARB bar so not sure how you would do it with an OEM.
If you can get to look behind the bumper, follow the leads from each fog light back into the body. I think the pinch point was where it went into the body?
If you can see where the problem is or it does it again get the dealer to fix (assuming it is under warranty)

yup, it's still under warranty, will check though. I just borrowed the fuse for the aux power (3rd row seat) so the fog lamps will work, but if there's a chaffing issue then no doubt that it will fail as well.

So now that you have checked your fuse.
Try the fog light again, to see if the fuse blows.

I tested it, and fog lights worked. I only tried a couple of times though and not for very long, so i might go for a drive and since it's raining and darker than usual I'm sure it's fine to use the fog lights (with the head lights off)
