Busted three of 'em. About $1,400 fitted if no rain sensor. Claimed under my normal comp insurance and paid $500 excess. I now have specific windscreen cover!
As yet, no cheaper aftermarket alternative....well as at about 6 months ago.
Bummer....looked up the other night and noticed some serious cracking in my windscreen. Seems originated from a stone impact in the tinted area behind therear view mirror. Then I went to the snow on Fri and Sat, and the temp was -3 and freezing. Seems that triggered off the crack from the weakened screen...
Anyone replaced a screen yet? Whats the damage????
Thanks for your input...!

My advice is to always go for the extra windscreen cover. I know mine is a $50 excess and am allowed one per year. Windscreens with rain sensors are very expensive.

Changed mine over a couple of months ago, $1900 genuine screen only available, but I was lucky we have one free screen a year with AAMI no excess.
Gents
I replaced the screen in my D3 in January this year for $242 through RACQ Autoglass.
No rain sensors, (its the S model) the plastic surround came out a little scratched but otherwise all good.
cheers.

						Warrigal57,
Does the new glass have inbuilt UV filtration?

The $242 was total replacement cost for the screen. I double checked my receipt (such a huge variance in cost!!). I don't know about the UV filtering - not something I thought of.
I just called to RACQ Glass to confirm the price and was quoted $376 including RACQ member discount, $470 for non members.
I didn't ask about UV filtering etc...the girl taking the call thought a LandRover Discovery was some type of Toyota!! LandRover needs to do some work on their brand awareness for the younger generation.
Sorry for the delay in responding but we've just returned from a trip through Innamincka/Strezlecki track/Lake Eyre/Flinders Ranges/Broken Hill. Great time and couldn't be happier with the car....except the washer bottle cracked again, and there were hardly any corrugations to talk of.
