			D3 Long Range Fuel Tank

Hello; I'm considering installing a long range fuel tank in my D3, and I'd like to know if anyone has done so and what they did about the extra weight behind the axle. Did you upgrade the suspension? Did the onboard air suspension cope with the extra weight? Did you install upgraded shocks? Cheers, Michael.

Many people have long-range tanks. Few have upgraded shocks although there are aftermarket options, and it would be wise of the vehicle permanently carries significantly more weight than normal. The total weight, filled, is in the order of 120kg. The air suspension self-levels.

Well I fitted one last month along with bars front and rear, there is a significant difference in handling, now drives like a diesel but still good, I will look in to the shocks sooner rather than later though. but still good, I will look in to the shocks sooner rather than later though.

The car bounces a little more than it used too with all the extra weight, I presume its the shocks not stiff enough. Might pay to take it to a garage.

There are after market shocks from Koni and some from Greece (see DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts and do a search for shocks)

I have had a Long Range Automotive tank on for over 2 yrs, then added on a bullbar and winch. The sophistication of the air suspension means I honestly can't tell the difference except it sinks easier on soft sand. The extra weight is down very low and so doesn't adversely affect leaning. It's kinda a necessity on the V8 here with Western Australian distances but with the V8, performance full load is still good.
