Somewhere I think I had heard vinegar in some water worked.
Does anyone know how to get these rust specs off the wheels? Guy at the dealer says it is pad dust and disc dust that has rusted, which seems to make sense as it is a rust brown when you scratch it off with a finger nail. It is very hard and well attached. I have tried detergent and spray on "wheel cleaner" but no go and the only way that works is to scratch it off with a fingernail, but is v slow and wore my fingers out.SWMBO won't help.

Oven cleaner works well.
Anything caustic is a matter of timing if you leave it on too long it will eat into the clear coat though.
I noticed that after several hundred k of gravell road the mags had a nice shine to them, not a speck of black brake dust to be seen, so problem solved, stay off the blacktop
