    Shifter still in P.
I don't know if its a fault or the wrong procedure after having left the vehicle unlocked for so long, although the steering lock engages within a short time of vacating the vehicle. Something isn't working well as the brake pedal goes a fair way down until immediately before it will start when it will be firm right at the top. I also at about the same time hear a clunk which is probably the steering lock unlocking. However the continual need to OK the mindless messages drives me to distraction.

Definitely a fault, get it fixed under warranty.

I had this one the other day & it was something really silly & simple... Thing is, I can't remember exactly what it was now.

I think it was something like a lump of something stuck in the window guide... (but don't quote me on that)

Interesting - I too, have had similar issues with the strange string of messages and not wanting to start on first push of the button, but only on 2 or 3 occasions. At the time I assumed it was me doing something dumb, but now I suspect there may be a common thread here. Unfortunately I didn't take careful notice of what the precursors of this situation were - but I think once it happened after leaving the vehicle unlocked a long time, and the other couple of times it was after double-locking. Normally I only single lock, and then it starts first push every time, regardless of how long since it's been run.

On one occasion I got out of the vehicle, locked it again (single), then unlocked - and away she went, first push. Maybe we can narrow it down to a set of circumstances that are common? Or perhaps, as rmp has suggested, it is simply a fault to be fixed?

Yep - need to reset - I had to do this with mine too. Pretty sure instructions are in the book.

Mine's starting difficulties could be linked to the vehicle always being left unlocked overnight.

Yep, leaving it unlocked is a problem with restart sometimes, I just push the start button again to turn everything off and then push again... and walla it starts!!! Or lock and unlock while still in the car and it start first time.

I think the designers must all park out in the street, and can't imagine not locking your car each and every time you get out of it..

Anyways, I would rather a key.... But can live with the HEAVY alternative... Why is it so heavy?

Graeme - have you had a chance to try locking yours overnight (like us poor sods who live in the burbs have to) and then see if the starting issue remains? Keen to know if this is the cause of the occasional glitch.

Mine's been good for the last couple of days so if it misbehaves again I'll try locking it overnight.

This happened to me at the Land Rover Off road facilities in Solihull last August during a visit to see the D4 being manufactured

The Land Rover instructor looked a bit embarrassed when the car would not start when it was my turn to drive (no it was not me) I suggested we get out lock it and start again, we did and the car started first time. He said "it had never happened before" so there must be a bug somewhere waiting to be discovered.
    PS the facilities were great
