    What did you do today??

For me, I did further trip preparation and had another fiddle with the Faultmate.

I raised the suspension through my computer to 25mm above standard height and then reversed the procedure, the process takes about 3 minutes from setting up to packed away. Now I know how to do it I have written up a couple of calibration settings for 25mm and 12mm raised height so when I do the high country in a couple of weeks I can set it when I enter the area and go back to standard settings when I leave.

These settings will enable me to travel without the suspension resetting to normal height when above 50 kms/hr

    Nice

I played with the 3 remaps I have for the D3 and the Aliengate interface (I have the std tune, an 'economy' tune and a 'power' tune). Around the city I've found that the economy and power tunes both provide better power and return better fuel figures than the std tune, as they're supposed to.

However, towing the van on the open road is a little different. I did 300km with the 'economy' tune, then 250 km with the std tune. The economy still gives better power, you can use the cruise control and the car will stay within 3 ~ 5km/h of your set speed. Cruise control off makes little difference. Average was 19.6 l/100km

With the std tune, cruise control will vary by as much as 10km/h, and it annoyingly holds onto the higher gears for too long going up hills. But with cruise control off, driving at the same speed as with the 'economy' tune, I got 18 l/100km.

It's a heavy van (2.6T unladen), and being raised, it has a poor drag profile. But interesting that the std factory tune out-performs the remaps!

    Cheers,

    Gordon

Never thought of that, but you have to have a Faultmate to interface with the vehicle ECU's to do it and every program will have different numbers but I can put the details of how it is done up on the Good Oil

    Hi Richard,
Well what did I do today (Sunday), I did as I said I would, I fixed the front wheel bearings on my stepsons Ford ute, an what a job!!! Then I took my wife out for a valentines dinner, just got back actually. We also took a trip out to the Spudshed in Baldivis of some cheap good quality vegies, great day actually, just going to settle in front of the TV with a beer now, all good stuff, ready to return to the grind tomorrow.
Didn't play with the Faultmate at all, so now who's the expert, very smart, I'll have to take some tips. Might see you next weekend. Catch ya, I'll call.

    Hi Richard
I replaced the injector harness in the wifes Disco and cleaned the oil out of the connector at the ECU. I also tweaked the turbo a few turns. totally different car to drive now. I wonder if the performance drops over time as the oil wicks it way to the computer?
Even better, I got to go for a ride on the dirtbike which hasn't seen daylight for a few months now. I skirted around the rain and got back to Bright to see we had 8mm of rain! The only thing to note was the massive damage the January 2nd rain did in parts. Some gullies look like a dozer has had a few swipes at them.

As long as the ones we will be in in a couple of weeks are OK, have been watching the weather there and it appears to be wetter than it has been for a while, may have to base ourselves in Bright or Mt Beauty and spread from there

We towed a trailer up to the Blue mountains and retrieved a series 1 86" ( I think, havent had a look at the chassis number yet).
    Toll:
Spare wheel and carrier parted company with car trailer - retrieved
Number plate, frame and rego label fell off and is somewhere between Bathurst and Springwood.
Disco 3 had a hissy fit with multiple system faults and dropped on its bump stops just outside Katoomba on the way back. Found somewhere to stop and turn off and on, didnt do it again, at this stage I'm blaming the trailer wiring....
Saw about 20 Landrovers , mostly D3's and RRS and got about 2 waves. Even a 130 driver ignored me

Do you have anymore info on the Aliengate interface? I couldn't find anything.
