    RRS Interior Lights

When you open a door on my RRS the front over head light comes on, the floor lights, the puddle lights and the cargo area light comes on but the rear seat overhead lights do not - they were switched off.

I switch them on and close the door and when the car is locked all go off. However when you unlock the car all lights come on and when the ignition is switched on all internal lights go out except for the rear seat overheads - so when you drive these rear lights are on.

Is there a way to make the rear overhead lights come on and go off automatically with the other internal lights and also be centrally controlled from the front internal light eg - turn on the front overhead light and the rear overheads also come on. At the moment at night if you want to see what is in back, you have to get out, open the back doors and manually switch on the rear lights.

Basically - how do I make the rear seat lights work in a similar manner to rear lights on most other cars.

    Thanks

    Garry,
    Try this,
Turn the lights on above the rear doors,
Make sure the drivers door is open & the lights are on, on the roof centre console.
Now push & hold the centre button on the roof centre console.
The lights will flash & turn off with a message in the Ipack, then push & hold again & hopefully reset the light functions.

    Cheers.

This was a strong topic in the early RRS days ('05)
The only answer that I have seen is :
Get the Courtesy lights to come on when a rear door is opened
Unfortunately the photos have been removed, however the text is still available.

Thanks - didn't work - the front overhead console lights worked as you indicated and the display came up but the rear lights stayed on - when I lock the car they go off and when I unlock the car they come on but unlike the front lights which go off when you start the car the rear ones stay on - they only way to turn them off is to actually manually switch them off so they never come on at all.

    Cheers

Those instructions are pretty well straight forward - but pulling off of some internal panels is needed and I know from bitter experience that they often damaged and clips broken. In view of that I might just have to put up with the issue but does beg the question why Land Rover set them up that way - why not a standard 3 way switch - on, off, auto with the other lights.

    Thanks - good stuff

Another slightly easier option is to change all the interior light bulbs to LED's, turns it from the black hole of Calcutta to a bright place to be. I've done this with mine and quite honestly, I wouldn't notice if the rear lights were on or off it's so bright inside now. Back seat passengers have commented on how light it is in the back. Doesn't answer your question but it is an easy option, took me 15 minutes to change them all.
