I need to get around to installing my RAI on my RRS. However I want to turn it into a snorkel so I need to take out the pipes and elbows than run along the top of the front drivers guard and either make them water proof or replace them with something else.

So is it just a matter of taking the grill off the outer guard and pulling the plumbing out or is there more to it?

I am not certain but I believe Ritters in Melbourne have a kit for this.

The inner hose has to be replaced depending on which year you have.

The older ones were not rubber,I believe the new ones are.

The connection thru to the airfilter box needs to be improved.

My D4's original tube was stapled to the rubber(?) elbow feeding into the airbox. I think I recall having to pull the elbow and tube out the front, but even if it was removed via the guard hole the air-box would still have needed to be removed. However removing the airbox is a simple task.

So you think it comes out the front - just pulls out? Do you know how the pipe is retained at the air intake side on the outer guard.

The airbox is pretty easy to remove and I will need to work out whether to seal the one way valve or leave it as is.

I should know not to rely on my memory as I've just looked at the old parts and the stapled end is at the guard, not the front. The front of the tube has a plastic insert that fits inside the rubber elbow at the airbox. Pull the guard elbow and the tube will come with it. Remove the grill from the guard my standing with your back against the guard and lift the grille with some fingers, ease the bottom of the grille outwards then unhook the top.

I didn't seal the airbox drains but would if I was likely to go through lots of deep water. The D4 has a flapped drain and a hole through one of the locating legs.
