    New sports SDV8

I am about to place my order for the new sports. I am thinking of trying out a car buyers services to see what sort of prices they can get me.

Has anyone used this type of service before?

Ring a few dealers and see what they can get you is the best way i found to do it, or see if any have some stock close to what you want as i find you probably get a better price if the cars already here as they want to move it as opposed to ordering a new one. A quick look on car point and there is a few around but bloody hell they are loaded with options and up around the $170k mark, where as a HSE SDV8 retails with no options for $148k according to Land Rovers site so id be pushing for the $139k to $140k for a new one.

Yes, I used Shannons (Vic) to help me (but I'm in Brisbane) and they were pretty good; also provided very good intertest rate on the HP.
    cheers

I have tried them once, though not with a top end vehicle. A waste of time. I got a better price than what the car broker could deliver by haggling with the dealer directly.

I had heard stories of the great deals these brokers delivered but it was not my experience.

    I bought mine last November.

I researched using a broker and found stories for and against doing so.

I eventually researched the price of the car through the usual areas - carsales, redbook etc. etc. over about 2 months as I knew when I wanted to buy. Armed with a reasonable idea of prices for models and accessories I eventually got what I considered was an excellent deal. I started out looking for a D4 SE with a few extras but ended us buying a D4 HSE and paid less than I thought an SE with extras would cost me. That said it was in one of the sales periods and I got a factory discount. I took what was available as I wasn't concerned about a particular colour but more about specs. The only thing I would have liked extra was an E-Diff but for me it was a nice to have rather than a must have. You've got to be prepared to walk away from a salesman if they don't come to the party. In my case I was out of my area and dropped in to the dealer I eventually bought from and said you've got one shot at this because I'm not from around here. He said you're just using me and I replied if the the price is good enough you'll get the business. It was, he did.

Bottom line is you need to know what the market is so you can judge whether a deal is good or not regardless of whether you use a broker or not. As usual in these things, you'll see good and bad stories about brokers and it ends up being a judgement call on your part as well as personal comfort level in negotiating with dealers.

    Good luck with your purchase.

I tried private fleet with my Touareg purchase. They came back with some offers. I told them to shop a particular price I had in mind, which was $7k less than their best price, and deal was done that way. They said I would never get that price.

I have clients in the industry, so have been fortunate to see their break even price on many brands (Toyota being the best markup).....cars are very profitable, but the dealers do have high overheads to maintain. Anyway I take into account their markup and adjust accordingly.

Purchase now complete with a new Santorini Black SDV8 HSE Dynamic on its way. pick it up in two week as the car was in Land rovers dealer stock,
The car is well optioned with only roof racks needed.

The local dealer who I have bought 2 other sports through has continued to look after me so will get my business again when I upgrade in 2018
