			TDV8 front brake advice

Hi people, I need to replace my front discs and pads (2008 TDV8 RRS with Brembos). I can get RDA drilled and slotted rotors for $197 and TRW pads for $72. Are these a reasonable option or should I stay with original? Thanks brains trust.

Personally I would avoid drilled and slotted rotors on a road car. Holes offer no benefit with modern brake pads. They are just places for stones to get caught and can also lead to cracking - although probably unlikely in this application. Slots can be of benefit on brakes that are a bit marginal but these are not and they can create an annoying vibration when you use them.

Best to stick to plain rotors and really unless there's a ridiculous price difference I'd stick with oem.

 Cheers,
 Jon

I have drilled and slotted rotors front and rear on my Vogue. Have had discs like that on many road cars over the last 20 years. The ones on the Vogue have been quite dissapointing. High frequency vibration and noise, especially at high speed. Although they are a lot better since I swapped them side to side, to make the slots work "backwards".

I recently removed my RDA slotted rotors and pads from my Toaureg after 5000 kilometres.

Bloody awful braking sensation created by them.

Back to the factory rotors and pads and all good again....but a very expensive exercise.

Won't ever shy away from factory brake combination from that point onwards.

 Brett....
