dig those inlet runners
Hi There,
Today decided to take on this niggling little water leak I've had, bought a complete water outlet housing and thermostat from Rimmer Bros roughly the same price as I could buy a new thermostat ad o-ring kit here in Oz. Yes I had to wait seven days, the water leak wasn't that bad.......
To get the outlet housing off I had to take off the throttle body and the housing that connects it to the intake plenum. Inside the plenum was quite "moist", has any one else seen inside their intake plenum, does the picture below look "normal". I managed to get my hand into the intake plenum so I cleaned out what was in there, smelt a bit oily / petroly if you know what I mean. 172,000 klms as far as I know the housing hasn't been off before.
Outlet housing, removed could definately see where the leak(s) where, I suspect that new o-rings would have fixed the problem, however was easier to fit a new one, excellent quality, it just fitted, and now I have no leaks (so far). Was evidence of some corrosion where the air met the coolant, the inside of the water channels was in excellent condition........ OAT does work
