Contemplating 2nd Hand RRS
The service intervals on the tdv8 started at 12,000km but ended up going to 24,000km, with the same motor and oil. Go figure. Mine has been serviced every 10,000km from new. The tdv8 has 640Nm of torque which is amazing, and goes to 700Nm with a standard remap. I’ve never felt short with the standard tune.
The tdv8 has no timing belts and never heard of a crank case/big end bearing failure. Retiring the EGR seems to help these motors keep their pipes clean. The most known issue with these motors is turbo failure. I’m at 265,000km and runs beautiful. I think 10k oil changes, induction cleaner and EGR mod all help a lot.
The 4.2sc is said to be one of the best motors put into a RR. I think the 5.0 na would also be pretty good.
