Contemplating 2nd Hand RRS

I just paid $1094 for 12 mths in Qld. Victoria is cheap.

Garry, slightly off topic, but do you happen to know if a locking rear diff was an option on these? All the TDV8 series 2 RRS's I've seen have an open rear diff - not a big deal, but wondered if a locker was ever an option? I've seen ads that claim a diff lock - but Topix says otherwise - so likely they mean centre.

My understanding is that like D3/D4s where the electronic rear diff was an option, it was also on the TDV8 and all RRS (L320). But realistically almost no RRS were bought to go offroad when new so few e-diffs would have been ordered on new car options lists.

But unless hard core offroading really the Traction Control system is more than up to the task.

My D4 hasn't got the E-Diff and I must admit I've never missed it despite plenty of off road - was just curious.

Not much difference between 6-cylinder rego and V8 rego here in QLD, less than $150, so I don't mind owning a V8 really (when in fact my wifes '41 Lincoln Continental has a 8.3 litre - 500 cubic inch - Caddie V8 and my '56 F100 has a 6.8 litre supercharged Ford V10 [bigwhistle]) so that's not really an issue. Seems the V8 guys are getting pretty good fuel economy too especially when towing - 14-15 litres per 100km was better than my 3.0 litre asthmatic Nissan Patrol, and with twice the torque and 70% more power!!

Once we have relocated to HB and got settled in its time to seriously start looking! I am not fussed whether its the V8 or V6 as both will suit my needs but if a low mileage V8 comes along with the right price tag I will jump on it!

Well good news I guess.

House is under contract and we are in the process of buying a block of land near the beach which pleases the wife.

Then its a house-build and then a car purchase. Still a little way off but inching ever so closer!
