    Long Range Aux Tank options

Looks like there are three main options for fitting an auxiliary fuel tank to a diesel RRS (L320)... specifically to a 3.6 TDV8. I'm canvassing options here.

    1. Brown Davis LDI3A1 - 100ltr - complete kit with transfer/gauge/switch/etc. (manufacturer states it is RRS compatible) <-- this one OK, no worries.
    2. Long Ranger TA62A - 104ltr - complete kit with transfer/gauge/switch/etc. (manufacturer states they designed it for D3/4 and have never attempted fitment to an RRS so don't know) <-- this one unknown
    3. OL Outback Accessories FTL22 - 92ltr - tank only (no pump, etc). (manufacturer states it is compatible with RRS V6 diesel only) <-- this one unknown (why less volume?)

Is there any reason that a TDV8 is different to a TDV6 with regards to installation in any way? Would a TDV6 one fit a TDV8 - regards OL variant? Has anyone done this/seen this?

Is there any reason why the Long Ranger tank wouldn't fit an RRS? Again, has anyone done this or seen it done?

Are any of the above better than others (usable capacity, quality, fitment, clearances, etc)?

Are there any other commercial options out there? Are there any difference between pre and post update L320 regarding this installation?

Many thanks in advance for feedback.

Daily drive... stays in the shed (I don't go anywhere without a puncture kit and compressor).
Touring... on the roof, or in trailer, as applicable.

I have no direct experience but I understand that whatever fits the D3 will fit the RRS though as you have found some fitters are not prepared to commit as they have not done a RRS - as far as I am aware there is no difference between the TDV8 and TDv6 as far as the tank goes.

The TDV8's active anti-roll bars might get in the way.

Thanks Graeme. Is that only with the super-duper Dynamic Suspension option or do all of them get it? Is that on '06-'09 or '10-'13 or both versions?

With that in mind I think these guys are another option: Long Range Automotive - LRA - Long Range Fuel Tanks

Very similar name but different mob to longranger

Also, quite a bit on auxiliary tanks in this thread: Auxiliary tank recommendation for D4

My brother's MY08 3.6 has the dynamic option but I haven't seen underneath it to know if it might impede an aux tank fitment.

Edit: Microcat shows a different stabiliser part number for the 3.6 vs all the others but only the 1 diagram for all vehicles.

Just a side issue - if the RRS has a 7" shorter wheelbase than a D3/4 but has the same fuel tank which sits in between the front and rear axles does that mean there is 7" of wasted space either in front or behind a D3/4 fuel tank that could have meant that a 7" longer tank could have gone into a D3/4?

Thanks Graeme. I could be mistaken, but doesn't the sway bar sit forwards of the rear diff and therefore well away from where an aux tank goes? The 'bar' part of the stab bar seems to follow the same route (as a non-dynamic one) and is similarly sized, so that area should be OK, also. So I assume that the tank fitment would be OK irrespective but potentially there still may be some fiddly issues with running the filler pipe, transfer hoses, etc. I can't see those being insurmountable. Someone chime in and slap me if I've got that wrong....

So far I'm not finding anything that indicates an issue for a D3/4 tank fitting an L320 RRS. This could work Now just need to find out which would be the best option. My experience with the BD company over a decade ago did not fill me with confidence and I didn't rate their product overly highly at that time. I don't know if that's improved. If ARB sell it and stand behind it that gives me a bit more confidence.

I think I'll need to dig around a bit more as I'm not really chasing every last litre of capacity. Anything north of 80ltrs odd would suit my needs well, and I'd prefer better ground clearance to more capacity beyond that.
