Wheel Alignment

I like to run my RRS on the highway at 20mm lower than via LLAMS. As a result the inside of my tyres have worn a bit quicker than the rest but I still have achieved 80,000km out of my tyres.

In anticipation of buying new tyres soon I went in and got a wheel alignment with LLAMS set at -20mm. The guy was concerned that TTM would not work but of course it did.

The alignment chart is attached (might need to zoom to read the numbers. I was obviously expecting the camber to be a bit out at the start with a noticeable difference when completed. However generally the after camber is basically the same as the start. When questioned the sales person (not the technician) said there was not much they could do with the camber but made adjustments to the toe in and out to compensate.

it looks to me that at -20mm the car was technically within specs in most areas even after 150,000km and 11years of use.

If there is anyone out there who understands wheel alignment charts have a look and mine and give an opinion - not sure the $170 was well spent.

I'm not an expert, but it looks like everything is within specs.
I'm a bit suss on the claim of adjusting toe to make up for camber. The two are completely different things and bear no real relationship.
Checking wheel alignment, as far as I am concerned, is always money well spent. The whole steering / suspension area cops a real hard life, so a health check is always a good thing.

Yes - I agree however in the past I have had bad experiences with wheel alignments so unless something is obviously wrong I tend not to get them done.

In this case the tyres wore on the inside - front and rear - yet even at -20mm height the camber and toe on the rear is technically within specs but still wore.

So I guess we will find out when I get new tyres - unfortunately rotation does not help with this type of wear so when the new tyres are about 1/2 worn I will get the tyres changed on the rims so the inner side then goes on the outside and then continue to do normal rotations every 10,000km or so.

As long as they're not directional tyres you may do alright.
I only go to one of two wheel alignment places in toowoomba that I know aren't staffed by knuckle draggers! Both are a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for.
