Stuck receiver MY13 - does it matter?

    Hi all,

My tow bar receiver is stuck which doesn't sound unusual. I have the key but it isn't moving.

I read that on a Disco this causes problem access the spare tyre. There doesn't appear to be any interference between the receiver and the tyre though I haven't dropped the tyre yet.

Is this something that I need to be worried about or can I just leave it always installed? Any consequences?

    Cheers

Is it the key that is stuck or the towbar tongue

Here is an extract from the Owners Manual

    1. Insert the key and turn it clockwise to
    unlock the tow bar.
    2. To remove the tow bar, pull the handle
    outwards and rotate the handle
anticlockwise until a click is heard. The
marker on the handle should show red.
    3. Carefully lower the tow bar and place it in
its stowage area and fully secure it.
    4. Replace the protective towing cover in the
tow bar mounting. Press the bottom of the
cover to fix it in position.

Also when lowering the spare Dont wind out the winch cable too far or it will double over and seize the mechanism

Pre-MY10 disco and RRS adaptors got in the way of removing the spare but from MY10 they don't unless there's a big tyre wedged up there.

Tongue. After looking at a youtube vid - I just tried again - The bolt is retracting - finger test says it is at least a couple of mm short and not clear of the tongue receiver assembly. Maybe I can work out how to press against the bolt - need a third hand.

Noted tip on spare winch. thanks

Mine jammed once to free it I dropped the spare tyre out of the way then used punch and hammer to tap the retaining pin in- it was sticky and I was unable to get it to fully retract with the green knob. Given it a clean and some lube and seems ok now
