One thing you’ll need key to unlock it or fit isolator where you can access with bonnet down and car locked shouldn’t be too hard to do. No battery no remote lock/unlock. But that’s how I’d do it if stored for a while

Does anyone have any ideas on using a Lead Crystal battery as a starter battery?

Must have cost a bomb leaving at the airport valet parking for such a long time... No option to leave it with friends or something so they can keep it under cover and start it with some semblance of reliability?

What was the response from them regarding leaving it outside rather than under cover? I would be bloody livid!!

Sorry about sliding off topic there for a rant, but such a nice vehicle to be neglected that way by those not caring about your interests.

Plus one for the trickle charger - CTEK or similar will periodically recondition the battery as needed to keep it in perfect order for a very long time. Hard to do at the airport, but as an alternative to the airport, how about a storage shed (probably about same cost, secure, isolated, under cover) and also can get them with power to hook up the charger.

Another alternative, if you look at Parkhound, you can find folks renting out their garage, fraction of the cost of a storage facility. Usually being someone's garage, they give you the key and off you go. I had a sports car that I couldn't fit at home parked in a garage at a unit in Taringa for a year or so cost me about $35 per week which I thought was a bargain. For not a lot more I am sure you could negotiate a connection of a trickle charger to the battery, and all snug as a bug awaiting your return.

Way less than the cost of trying to restore the damage done by sun and exposure, and god forbid hail! How did it survive all the hail storms in that time unscathed?

Bugger leaving it at the airport!!

Thanks for your concern I was absolutely livid. Fisty cups were warranted, but to my disappointment weren't utilized lol. I appreciate your concern for the Sport, as well as your suggestions. With regards to the hail, the only answer for this is Range Rover built quality and the car gods intervening. And in hindsight, I should have put it into a storage facility. However, the convenience of having it at the airport was enough for me to pay for the service they were supposed to be providing. Also, I didn't have anyone to leave it with. To answer your question as to why the car was left outside. 1 IDK, it defies logic. 2 The manager hide like a coward, I haven't spoken to him yet... So I'm going with, either the insurance or legal route. An update on the car's condition will be coming soon. PS What I've reported on is only the tip of the iceberg.

I thought about it, considering the electronics an isolator isn't the best thing for these cars. long term in a parking lot but still a good idea.

I hope you have some success with whatever avenue gets traction there. Definitely shameful on their part if you have paid for undercover storage. Another suggestion - maybe put a shout onto the forum here next time you are heading away for an extended period. You may find someone has a spare space to protect your pride and joy and it will be looked out for that can be assured! Lots of folks on here have several vehicles and every one of them cares about Land Rovers.

    Remove the battery between uses.

Hi HAZZA and first off, Lead Crystal batteries can NOT be used as a cranking battery. This is specifically stated by the manufacturer.

Next, no lead acid battery, such as an AGM, can be left for more than 3 months with out some form of maintenance charging. This is for an AGM and wet cell batteries should not be left for more than 1 month.

NOTE, the above is for batteries REMOVED from or disconnected in the vehicle.

If you intend to leave the battery in the vehicle and connected up at all times, then the maximum time with out charging the battery would be less than two weeks because the vehicle itself, will be constantly discharging the battery.

Just a suggestion, park your RRS where ever you are going to leave it for long periods, and as there is no way to trickle charge the battery, remove the battery and store it somewhere else, where you can maintain it.

Thank you, for all your great advice it's a real help. Just to clarify I can't use a Lead Crystal in a single battery setup, even on these cars with such high demanding electronics?
Also, have you or anyone you know used the Delkor ln5 or Odyssey 49-950?

Thanks, I will keep that in mind.

The problem was, I didn't know when I was coming back for it. So it just extended and extended, until I was finally able to come back for it (from overseas).

btw I did pay for it, to be: stored undercover, driven, and moved around as part of their services.
