    Lost a Parking Globe in the Headlight

    Was changing a blown front parker globe in the front headlight of the RRS (basically the same as a D3).

    I pulled the fitting out that holds the globe but of course the globe fell out of the fitting into the headlight and now sits in the front at the bottom. I thought that with the Hi beam globe out I might have been able to move the parker globe from where it is to the Hi beam spot and out the H7 sized hole there but no, the parker globe to too big to fit through the gap to get there.

    So other than removing the front lens of the entire headlight (needs heating and careful prising apart with risk of cracking) is there another way I might be able to get the globe out.

    It is too wide to fit sideways through its hole and the chance of fluking it and getting the globe to fit the way it went in is pretty small.

    What, you cant remove the headlight and tip it up untill the globe falls out from its hole?
    I know nothing about these modern cars but. Just a thought.

    I have done the same with the D3 before.

    By removing the headlight from the car I was able to move the globe around so that the prong end of the globe just starts to come back out, and then using a pair of small pointy nose pliers I was able to grab the end and pull it back out.

    No unless you luck it in - the globe tends to side sideways which is longer than the diameter of the hole.

    You must have been very, very lucky - as I tried for about 15 minutes and never even got close - tempted to modify a pronged gripper and going through the hole but hoping there was a simple option I had missed.

    Apart from actually crushing the globe and removing it in fragments I'd say it's an exercise in patience testing. It got in there, so it can get out. Like the kid with his head through the fence.

    No was an LED - I will have another go on the weekend as I might be a bit more patient then.

    Did you try a vacuum cleaner sized down to about 15 mm?
