Have recently approached 2 well known LR/RR mechanics here in Perth to discuss repairs/mtnce to my RRS
The hourly rates here are double what I paid my LR/RR specialist on the east coast - my eyes are still watering
No doubt, you get what you pay for and I appreciate there is a premium to pay here in WA when the mines absorb any available decent tradesmen but when North of $200/hr is quoted, I do need to ask if anyone knows of a more cost effective solution from a LR/RR trained mechanic in the greater Perth area.
Cheers

SupporterIn Perth central but an apartment so no where to work on the car
$220+GST was the highest quote
For the work i want done, it’ll be cheaper for me to ship the car back to my guy on the East Coast for him to do the work. <$2500 for return trip is only 10hrs labour here!!

Sorry to say but $200 + is normal and I think my cousin pays nearly $300 an hour from a Merc Stealer and even he balked when they tried to slip in $275 diagnostic scan charge they immediately removed it. I am down in the southwest and I know there is LR specialist Pannucio in Zaknic Place Bunbury but not sure as to how good. Apparently everyone gets $150-200K on the mines or so their labour rates would indicate. I can get a decent mechanic down here for $100-$140 an hour for good general work but their eyes glaze over when my BMW rolls in....recently a BMW specialist wanted $12K to rebuild my 6 speed trans and I had the good fortune to find a 45 year veteran who saved me over $4K with a 2 year 40k km warranty included.
