    RR HSE spare key shock

Hi guys I, just joined so please forgive me if this post is in the wrong place.
I just picked up a RR TD6 HSE & I love it. Need to get a second key & fob , spoke to a LR dealer near my place, ( a long way from anywhere ) & was told it would cost about $650???? could this be right?
Any advice on where to get this sorted at a reasonable price would be great.
    Cheers.

sounds about right... got a similar quote from the local brigands in Brisbane for my 10yr old P38...it's true said keys have to be cut and fob programmed at the LR factory in the UK. (you can purchase a blank key locally and get it cut as an "emergency" key...but then you need to disarm the immobiliser using a Testbook/faultmate etc)

If you get it done through a dealer in the UK it costs about 150GBP which at present is about A$250. Add $50 for registered mail (it's less than 140gm weight) and ...

So locally it's a case of thank you very much... dealer pockets A$350 plus the profit margin of the UK dealer as well (I'm presuming it's same cost ex factory to all LR dealers... )

short answer: because they can I suppose...

So, who do you know in the UK?...

LR parts pricing is set by LR Australia, not by the individual dealers...

I used to work at a dealer in the NT, quite possibly the one that is being discussed here and I know they work off LR parts pricing.

Thanks for the replies guys. I must say the guys at the dealer here seem great thus far & if the pricing is set by Land Rover UK then the is a limit to what they can do about it .As a new RR owner I was just curious.
I like the idea of getting one direct from the UK if it saves me a few hundred bucks that could go toward the service Im having done on it right now.
Has any body ordered one from the UK with success?
