    Seeking a L322 diesel

Please excuse my first message until I get the hang of it!
I am wanting to buy a L322 diesel for some towing of a ski boat and some long distance touring (but not together). I have seen them from $32,000 upwards but fear the maintenance cost may be extreme at this lower end.
I have also seen a wreck for rebuilding at $26,000 but It would take me a year to put it back on the road + alot of dollars. Has someone got some practical advice for me or seen a vehicle for sale that they can pass on?
About 10 years ago I had one of the Classics with a 2.4 VM which was fantastic other than in service $$.
I welcome any comment that you offer. Thank You.

Maintenance costs are what you make of them.As to normal servicing they are cheaper than most vehicles and if you do preventative maintenance like tranny, cooling system flushing yearly you'll be unlucky to get major issue's.Towing a boat will put extra strain on the rear airbags so they won't last as long but thats true of springs too, they are available cheaper sourched direct from the US or UK and same with the brakes, they will wear quicker but the disc's are made in Oz and are no dearer than any other vehicle.I payed extra for mine but it's in very good condition. If you can find one at a cheaper price, price the parts-repairs needed and do the sums, you could come out in front. If you liked the VM, then you will love the L322 diesel!! Most people run a mile at the mention of the VM.

Service costs on a Range Rover will never be cheap, but they are not too bad. I just had mine done with a 130,000Km service for $600 and that included a non-standard transmission flush which added a couple of hundred to the bill.

Magic car though, and if you can get a good one for around $40K then you're laughing.
