    caravan wiring

Can anyone indicate if there is any special req's to hook up wiring for a caravan to a 2002 L322.The electric brakes are operated from the van draw bar with a control dial, which is preset before moving off, not a internal control.
    Thanks

If the brakes are triggered by the brake light circuit then can we assume the van only requires basic 5 pins? (brake light, tail light & 2 indicators). As long as the van has nothing connected on pins 2 and 5 then it will be OK.

It will also need a +12v supply for the brakes to use, and possibly an extra earth just to be sure, as the brakes can use a fair amount of current.

If the caravan in Question is set up as per the hire fleets (given that the controller is on the draw bar, I assume it is), the brakes will be operating off pin 6+ and pin 3-. They don’t work that well because of the voltage drop but the purpose is to operate with no vehicle mods.
