Hi Guys FYI,
I have just came back from touring the Alice Springs area in my L322 4.4 vogue 02model.
I travelled from Gippsland to Adelaide, Oodnadatta track, Alice Springs, West Mcdonald rangies, Ayers Rock and back home through Mildura, Echuca region.
Very impressed with the vehicle. I was towing a jayco outback hawk which preformed very well.
Fuel economy fiqures- Oodnadatta track 17.5lt/100kms
Cruising along the sealed roads 15.5lts/100kms
Long term average towing 16.5lts/100kms over a total of 7300kms travelled.
It got better fuel economy than a toyota trooper diesel non turbo model 90's model towing a smaller camper trailer than mine which travelled with us.
It also performed well 4wd over rocks into Palm Valley with stock road tyres.
I would recommended one of these vechicles to anyone.
Regards Paul

Ha - I thought you must be towing a monster camper trailer with those fuel figures, until I noticed you are not driving a diesel but the V8
Still not too bad overall. Nice way to get around the countryside.
Cheers

Not too bad,my work troopies used to chew through 15ltrs per hundred on tar without a load, and they were diesel. Pat
I don't think I'll ever sell our L322. There is simply no better way to get around apart from flying.
Normal highway fuel figures for the 4.4 are about 12.8 lt/100km although I do have a relatively heavy foot. I knew the fuel figures would be high and am actually quite pleasantly surprised that they are as low as they are.
I cannot fault the vehicle at all.........yet.![]()
Good form mate. I was thinking of doing a similar trip from Bris if not this season, next dry.. Aside from Palm Valley, did you do much off road? What tyres were you running?
Cheers

I used michellin 19inch highway tyres, I didn't do to much off road. If it is dry you want have any drama's. I carried two spares. Along the oodnadatta track you can get tyres repaired / replaced but no one carries 19inch tyres. You see alot of vechicles with mud terrians but i think it's a bit of a over kill and plus they flick up more rocks onto your camper.
