    L322 FUEL USE SENSOR

My L322 03 model TD6 has a fuel us sensor that is not responding to my driving. It seems "stuck" on 11.5L/100K However I get around 12.5 l/100Karound here and last week I got 10L/100K. How does the computer sense fuel use? Jim

Throttle position sensor, just runs an equation based on time spent at different positions – it is supposed to know how many L/hr are being used at said throttle position.

That’s why I laugh every time I read a flash tuning review where the owner claims a huge improvement in fuel mileage. Of course there is, with the increased fuel map the throttle spends more time higher above the floor! The Trip computer does not read the fuel map so does not know that there is actually more going through.

Have you reset one of the trip meters? Our other car resets trip #1 if the engine is stopped for more than 2 hours, the rangie doesn’t. If you have gone a while with out resetting, it takes a lot of 10/100 to start moving the total down.

Unlike marine applications there is no paddle wheel in the fuel line...
