    Centre High Mount Stop Light

    Hi Pat,

If you have a copy of RAVE there's an excellent step by step under the LIGHTING section.

If not, you need to remove the upper tailgate finisher from inside the upper tailgate and then prepare to remove the spoiler (held on by three bolts). Close the tailgate then slide the spoiler off. Make sure you disconnect the relevant harnesses as you go. From then on it's kind of obvious how to do the rest of the repair/replace.

Assembly is as always the opposite of what you did to get there.

If you need more detailed step by step instructions, just let me know.

    Cheers,
    Iain

    Aw, c'mon Pat,

This is a Land Rover. Something like just two screws would be far too easy.

Besides you have to remember that these things were put together when BMW had control. If anyone could over engineer something, it'd be the Germans

Good luck with the disassemble/reassemble process.

I had to replace the lens cover two days after I picked up my car (used) as neither the dealer nor I noticed the huge chunk missing out of the top of it during the initial walk around! (we're both vertically challenged)

    Cheers,
    Iain

    No Pat,

The clips are still just fine on the tailgate trim of my beast.

If you gently pry the trim off rather than trying to tear it forcibly away it comes out clean, without damage to surround or clips.

I found just working your way a couple of times round the edge brings it off smoothly.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Iain
