Do the P38 and the L322 take the same transfer case oil ? if so maybe this is a cheaper option.

Comes in 5L containers...doesn't seem to be readily available, best places to obtain it are produce stores /farm supplies/ Mobil depots etc

I used Castrol SAF-XO in my l322 transfer case. It was supplied by the local Landdrover dealer. You can by it by 1 litre containers from the Castrol distributor approx $25-$30 a litre.

Just having a look through the FFRR forum, on the page on recommended lubricants - Recommended Lubricants - fullfatrr.com Wiki Fairly comprehensive list, also shows a Texaco oil that is suitable for the diffs, but I doubt that would be available here in Aus.

Just a quick one - is there anything special about the power steering fluid & brake fluid in these things? Checked the fluids out today, and they are putrid - need to do the power steering and brake fluid ASAP.

    Cheers - Gav

PAS fluid is probably the same as the D2, it's a genuine product. Works much better than other stuff. Brake fluid should be to the same DOT standard at least, up to a point I think higher no's are backward compatible but I know some of the newer ones aren't.
