I thought the 02 model was identical. The 03-06 bit may be that they were first released over there in 03 - not sure, but originally, they didn't get the classic until 89 I think.

Could be barking up the wrong tree with release dates, but the parts will fit.

Think the L322 was released here late '02. Yanks didn't get diesel. But most bits for 02-05 should fit. MY06 made changes due to Ford take over.
Most body bits can be swapped 02-11 some are bigger jobs than others. a number of people have swapped front & rear lights & bumpers. Dont get headlights from US as left hand drive.
Electronics are a different thing going from BMW to Ford based (now Tata owned ). As have the motors.
Would help a bit more if we knew what you were looking at

The updated screen is nice, keep in mind it makes it much harder to add an AUX input for iPod or similar though than the earlier cars unless you go for one that had the factory rear seat entertainment package fitted.

Sometime between 2005 and now, probably in 2007, too, they changed the turning circle from 11.6m (kerb to kerb) to 12.0 m, and the wading depth from 500mm to 700mm. Looks like ground clearance was changed from 275mm (offroad height) to 283mm, and from 225mm to 231mm (standard height)- ( I am looking at a 2005 brochure, and comparing it to current web site)
