			TD6 thermo fans

I took my Rangie into it's first low range trip last weekend, it went brilliantly, but 2 questions someone may help me with.I ran it in low range all day, and it appears that the engine fans ran all the time, despite the temp gauge dropping slightly,( it was only about 9 degrees outside) is this normal? As most of you know they are a very loud fan, are they linked to the low range selection?
The other thing it did was after about a 3 km steep,( very steep) descent, in low, it started to smoke out the exhausts, and a rich fuel smell, so much so that my mates behind me had to put their windows up, it was a blue smoke,no change in performance or engine sound, after a few minutes up hill, it cleared itself and didn't do it again, vehicle is a td6 with only 100k on it and it has never been off road or in low range( bought of a lady in Toorak!) any ideas?
The rangie off road was equal to my old 110 puma, and the rangie has bald tyres!,great car.
 Cheers

Blue smoke is usually oil. Rich fuel smoke is black.

Not sure what would be creating blue smoke, maybe crank case breather (feeds oily muck into inlet) has spat a heap out, and while not under throttle (and little air) its created a rich oil burn.
