    Hi Jim,
are you thinking of converting the fan due to it being noisey (engaged a lot) just wondering because mine was doing the same and taking forever to quieten down. I removed the bumper etc to get at the radiators and found a load of bugs and leaves in the rad.
probably ten years worth so i just gently pressure washed and blew out with commpressed air. I removed the cowling and top rad mounts so i could get between the radiators and to do a proper job. this has made a huge difference and all is well now. its working as it should and is nice and quiet.

    hope this helps

Hi Neil. When mine kicks back and sits on about 3000rpm it sounds like a herculese about to take off, otherwise it is fairly quiet.

Really only noisy when the gearbox kicks back and the engine revs up quickly, or when you plant your foot to make a quick getaway.

Mines just noisy all the time. Occasionally it will shut up for a bit, but will come back on on a hot day, then stay on for a few weeks again... Been thinking of binning it for a new one, but haven't got around to it yet.

There are electric fans in the front already I think, which come on over the top of the engine fan when it gets really warm. At least that is the way I think it works, the blurb on the cooling system in RAVE says something like that IIRC.

Guys, whip the grill off and have a look at the bottom left corner, in the cowl for the electric fan. If theres a bit of a birds nest of leaves and bugs then its worth cleaning out the rad.
you can shine a torch through from the engine side and i think you will be supprised how blocked it will be.
my fan would stay in for days unless you held the revs over 3k to unlock it. now it only comes in at slow speed and then at only about 50% of what it used to. but more importantly its not in when i fire it up in the morning.
I dont think the restriction in the rad was causing the fan to come in because it was running hot more like the air flow over the fan clutch and valve wasnt enough. the temperature measured with the hawkeye is the same as before i cleaned it out.
This has made a huge difference to the driveability of the car.

    hope this helps.
