    Rangie across the Simpson?!

G'day guys, I sold my 110 puma 12 months ago and got myself an 04 td6 rangie, so far I've done some pretty interesting tracks and have been getting to know the vehicle off road, recently hitting some serious tracks in the snowy mountains..to say I'm impressed with it's off road capabilities is an under statement, these things are seriously good off road.
I'm wondering if anyone has thrown a rangie at the Simpson desert, as I'm keen to head there in winter. The car is obviously mechanically in top condition, with a new gearbox and transfer case$$$$$$, and 110k on the clock.
I see no reason not to take it, but wondering if anyone has run these things in heavy sand or done a desert crossing in one? I will post some photos of my recent run up to the snowys soon. Cheers.

I think you would want a snorkel. Over xmas I did a oil change & all filters. There was sand in the bottom of the air filter box after only a couple runs on the beach. Admittedly the tracks were very dry but I was still surprised that it sucks it in that far.

Dad has a D1 that spends 12-14 weeks of the year on Fraser, he’s fitted a snorkel for the same reason – heap of sand being sucked into the airbox, nothing got past the filter but if it does…

Garry, the door seals in the vogue actually work, and besides, a little red sand
On the grey carpets will look good!!
