    wheel size options

Hi guys I've just bought a 2003 4.4 HSE (this is my second range rover other was a p38 ... I guess I've got the bug now
Well my question is probably the opposite from whats normally asked but can some of you guys tell me what size wheels AND tyres you have on your cars also price of a reputable brand tyre for comparisons (Mitchellin etc )
I am currently running on 22 inch range rover rims (well at least they look to be range rover although quite possible they are copies (how do I tell ?)
These wheels are too large for me as I fear for my life when driving in any school zones as it looks like a drug dealing paedo car lol
Jokes aside I just want it a little more usable for driving up kerbs etc as this car will be used to drive round town and tow my offroad toy... I think 22's are bit limiting.
I'm going to sell the wheels and tyres which are around 80% tread on stealbay once i get new ones ... any ideas on price (brisbane)

22” won’t be genuine RR wheels, unless they are from a late model. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but the ’03 petrol HSE had 18 standard, 19 option.

Personally I have the standard 18s, I want the side wall for venturing off the black stuff. 265/60 18 MICHELIN Latitude Tour HP, a nice road tyre, 95% of my car’s use is on road, I want a tyre that is quite, rides nice and most importantly sticks wet or dry. About 370ea delivered from Tire Rack US, fitted & balanced locally (Shop at Wynnum was happy to have them sent directly to them). Was quoted 500ea here.

If you change wheels make sure you find out exactly what you have, L322 from ’02 to ’05 had wheels that are different to all other LRs. Late L322, D3/4/RRS wheels will fit but you need the nuts to suit – the difference is the wheel nut seat.

I've got 20" on mine - from an 09 supercharged. They look great, but are a bit limiting. They are only on there because it was the car I wanted, and they were on there when I bought it, but it would be better on 18's.

I will need new tyres in the next 6 months, so still tossing up if I put new rubber on these rims, or change to 18's at the same time...

Still doesn't stop me going off road with it, but I have to tip toe around a bit...

I've got 18" on my '05 TD6. Very happy with then.

Standard is 18" rims with 255/60-18 tyres
Option 19" rims with 255/55-19 or 20" rims with 255/50-20

As Harlie says 22" not RR usless very late model. I wouldn't have then in a pink fit.

'02-05 used one type of lug nut. Change after that. DO NOT mix wheels & lug nuts. Find out what wheels & nuts you have before changing. Make sure you have thew right nuts to fit your " new " wheels.

Currently I run the std Goodyear tyres + a spare set in the shed on rims + another set of rims to put some semi offroad tyres on. Probable Greneral Grabber AT's to do the 1/2 lap on

I've heard you can fit 17" rims for an early D3 or a BMW x5. Anyone actually done this.

Plenty of good tyres available for 17" rims.

D3 wheels don’t fit over the calipers, can’t see any wheel with the load ratings being any different.

I think the Sport has the same 120mm PCD as the L322 but I'm not sure about the offset and centre bore size.

    * The offset is slightly different but acceptable.

    * You will NEED wheel nuts to match the RRS wheels. Assuming that your current wheels are not Early L322 wheels they may be RRS or Late L322, if this is the case than the nuts will be OK. If they are after market wheels chances are the nut won't fit - you need to know what you have now. The wheel nuts off an '03 L322 won't fit RRS wheels.
Could be cheaky - go over and ask if he can remove a wheel nut and compare to what you have.

    * If the offset and the nuts are different you really need 5 so you have a matching spare.

    * The tyres on the RR Sport are smaller in profile (overall diameter) than L322 and D3/4. No legality issues but those tyres aren't really suitable.

So yes, they will fit and IMO will be heaps better than 22" - but there are a few points to consider.

Personally I think that wheel looks great.

I got a set of secondhand 20's from a 2008 supercharged with ok tyres for 600 bucks Guy had all the original nuts to go with them as well!

I couldn't pick the ride difference between the 20's and the original ugly 18's.. but now I won't go on the dirt with it.. maybe the beach and thats it.

Would like to get the 18's powder coated black and throw them on if I do a trip up north.
