Sold the Cayenne and bought a L322

Picked up a L322 weekend just gone, an 03 HSE tdi with xenons and sat nav/tv fully dealer maintained with the recall on the front diff and airbag suspension all redone.

Covered approx 500ks in it and initially impressions are wow this thing drives nice, much more comfortable, spacious and presence than the Cayenne Twin Turbo that I sold to buy this, the only let down is body roll and heaviness going into corners.

First lesson learnt.. Don't pressure wash the engine which resulted in a HDC failure that didn't go clear till the next morning... All good now

    Happy motoring !!!

    Airbag issue??

Congrats on your L322 purchase and I know you will enjoy it.
Having owned mine since 2003 and had the front diff recall done I am more than curious to know what exactly you refer to to when you say that the air suspension has been "done".
I have never had anything done on mine so what has been done on the car that you purchased??

    Congrats 'Same'

They are a great 4x4.. bought mine with 90,000k's and have done over 50,000k's without much problems at all Very happy with it indeed with no intension of upgrading for a while yet.

Have to say it must feel gutless coming from a twin turbo Cayenne!

I can imagine that it feels a very different driving experience compared to the Porsche!

The Cayenne was a great drive but a complete overkill in day to day traffic, it really is a car not designed for our roads and speed limits. It also didn't serve my purposes in terms of off road ability (granted I had 20's) and interior space, rear leg room and luggage space was quite tight. In traffic it was always off boost with noticeable lag and displaced noticeable heat through the firewall, dash, console area and let's not talk about fuel economy which never dropped below 20 litres/100km. These are things that you never realize on a test drive and begin to annoy you after ownership. Overtaking power on the open road was exhilirating but how often can you do that these days safely.

Having owned a p38 in the past I decided to buy another Rangie and pocket a few dollars ! L322 is a lot of car for the money and having spent a considerable amount of money maintaining the cayenne I am accepting of the fact that this car potentially will be no different .

Uteman- I should clarify the suspension had nothing to do with warranty, the struts where merely replaced as part of routine servicing.

There was no record of the gearbox having been attended to despite 8 years of ownership and complete dealer history,so this was factored into the price

Congrats on the purchase. Mine has just under 200KKM on it now - owned it for nearly 18 months and put over 40KKM on it including just getting back from a 3000 KM trip to Melrose and back - the long way. Including nearly 500 KM of dirt road tracks - all of which it did with ease - even on the 20's it is currently wearing, but some 18 inch AT's would be more suitable long term for what I plan to do with it now...

Mine has had the trannie done, and most service items you would expect at those Km's.

Hope you get a good trouble free run from it.

    Cheers - Gav
