    Windscreen Wipers

This may sound dumb, but does anyone know he best place to get wipers for these? Looks like the whole assembly gets replaced as the old ones just clip off and there is no way to just put a refill in it.

Don't want to go to the stealers if I don't have to....

    Cheers - Gav

Tried super cheap or autobarn? I've gone into a random store and they had stock for both my Disco and 1986 County. Arm and blade for minimal cost. (I can't remember how much but I was happy).

Unless the rangie ones are particularly special?

Yeah, tried them, no luck. I have had Bursons and Repco look for them too, but no go. They are longer than most universal arms, so no one seems to keep them.

    G'day Gav,

No, you don't need a whole new assembly (unless of course it's broken in some fashion) but you do need a very long blade.

I have used just blade replacements for the last couple of years with great success. I can't really remember what width the backing plate is. IIRC it's a 6mm backing. I've had success with both steel and plastic spines.

I think I still have a spare blade in the garage. I'll have a fossick later and amend this reply with details.

Got my last set from Repco last year. I think they are Trico blades.

    Cheers,
    Iain

    yeah what Iain said.

I get inserts from the local Supercheap, they are the longest ones they stock.

As the others have said you can just get the multi -size refills from SuperCheap; $10 for Silicon blades

or optionally they have the complete assembly available

Flex Blade TFB22H for $35 per arm.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to search further afield than my local suppliers, as NONE of them keep a long enough blade in stock, or said they can get them...

I've tried, 2 supacheap shops, Autobarn, Repco and Bursons without luck. All of them too short...

Just replacing the infill will be a **** of a job, as it is crimped into position every 2" or so, nor just fixed at one end and slide through like most - I have never seen anything like them before.

If someone can tell me a specific store in Melbourne that keeps the longer ones in stock, that would be great, as obviously not every store of each chain stocks them. It could be that no one else in my area drives a Rangie...

    Cheers - Gav.

Interesting you are having trouble Gav as like the others mine just slid out and I slid the replacement ones back in. Yes they are long.

I think at some stage someone has replaced them with a whole new arm assembly, and like a lot of newer cars now, they don't have replaceable blades, you just clip the blade holder off the arm and clip a whole new assembly in. Only takes a few seconds, but you have to find the bloody things first...

If someone has a standard set of arms, I'd be happy to buy them and just go back to longer blades (if I can find them).
