Hi All,
I have a 05 L322 V8, It has the Denso Nav (touch screen) that has the original whereis map DVD (V10). it all works ok, but obviously the maps are way too old. I'm always driving in the middle of nowhere. So I'm looking at updating the DVD. Whereis is useless at the moment as for my car the most up to date DVD I can use is DVD16 (which I believe is 4 year old maps) and they are unavailable too. Also they don't have a ETA for a newer DVD to suit.
I have been doing some reading up and from what I know Land Rover, Jag, ford and Toyota/Lexus use the same system. Can a DVD v18 or v19 from one of these work in the L322?
Has anyone used the generic Denso DVD's in the L322? What functions do you lose running these?
Just so happens I spoke to Land Rover about this today. They told me that as of last month they have ordered a new round of DVD maps for the touch screen models and have started a data base of interested parties. Aparently the new maps will be available around September.
I'm really hoping this is true as the maps in my Rangie are really old, like V13 old!! I think the dealer I bought my car from just threw in what they had!
I was in touch with Land Rover Australia customers services about this matter as well and was told end of the first quarter of this year , but then they might have been telling me porkies . My disc contains the original mapping Burke and Wills used and was quoted $1000 for a seven year old disc so something new soon would be good but as far as I can tell this is very low priority for LRA .
Basically, what I was told is that this system had been forgotten about for map updates. Apparently it's a 4 month procedure to get new maps out from the start of the process. The nice lady I spoke too, Chrystal I think her name was, stated that the invoice from WhereIs to Land Rover had been received and was being paid. The next step would be the production of the discs. Once the discs have been made then ordering could commence from the website where they had been previously available. I don't think the price would be anywhere near $1000. Most of the maps seem to be around the $300 to $400 mark on the WhereIs site. When I was speaking to her she did place me on hold to speak with someone higher up with more info so I truly hope this is all correct.
Of course I have no way to validate anything I have been told but can only suggest that as many people as possible add their names to the 'interested' database so they can see there is a demand for the product.
Thanks for that , this is what LRA said to me .
Dear Mr Blair,
We have received your correspondence that was sent to Land Rover in the UK regarding satellite navigation updates for your Range Rover.
Land Rover Australia deal with all concerns regarding vehicles in the Australian marketplace.
Currently, we do not have the latest version to upgrade and are waiting on the update to become available. Our mapping is supplied by Whereis and our latest information is that we will not have an update until end of quarter one 2014.
You should liaise with your local authorised Land Rover dealership for update information and availability.
Kind Regards,
Guy Mallet

Very keen to hear how good this updated disc is!
I've been using a Toyota/Denso disc in our 2008 and it works fine, can't recall if we lost any other functions - certainly nothing noticeable or I'd have noticed.![]()
Easy enough to put our outdated Land Rover version back in if ever find something missing.
Same disc also works in my Jag XJ8 so seems to be common across all Denso systems of the era.
Hi ariddell can you give us and idea which Toyota model and year disc you are using so if one of us wants order one , I have to sort some thing out and I get the impression Land Rover are just stalling and hoping we all go away and leave them alone with their/our money .
So I have done a bit of reading around the internet and found some more info on using the Toyota disc's. I then managed to obtain a disc from a Toyota, what's referred to as a 'C1', and can confirm that the road maps look to be updated. I only managed to get in a quick play with it and I had to start the car with my original Land Rover disc inserted and then change disc's whith the ignition still on. The nav operated slowly at first and then came good after a while. I was able to see things like Eastlink here in Vic that arn't on my original disc. The 'Off Road' mode no longer seems to work though. I also need to check that it will now use the updated roads and check the POI's.
