Height adjustment
All,
I have just bought a L322 (2012) and am selling my D4 which has LLAMS fitted, Mr Small's excellent height adjustment module which allows you to avoid the problem of the car dropping to Normal Height when you reach 50kmhr Off Road (eg approaching a steep sandhill while sand driving) .
I was wondering, do systems like the IIDTool for Land Rover - GAP Diagnostic
allow you to "set" the height of the vehicle and keep ity at that height for a period? Ie could you plug in an interface unit like MSV faultamte or IID prior to going off road and select your own "off road" height to avoid the LR prescribeed '50km hr drop to normal height' issue???
cheers

Yes. IID allows storing several (sorry can't remember how many) set of suspension settings that you can switch between.
Set up a group for off road, which puts normal height at +75mm and offroad at +20mm (once you change 'normal' all other heights are offset from the new normal). when you get back on the black, restore to standard. Takes less than minute to activate but you do have to stop - it's not like what you're used to. This is actually updating the parameters stored on the ECU, you would be loading a new value for normal, its a better system for adjusting difference between heights, its not as good (fast) for doing the quick switch as Llams but can still do it.
If you are looking at IID, make sure the functionality is there for the late L322, I know they were lagging behind with development compared to the early model.

Many thanks, most interesting - yes, they are behind but that's ok I'm looking at options (still a big fan of LLAMS but I guess this is an alternative)

Can't you swap the LLAMS to the L322?

Thought of that - and then sold the D4 tonight with it fitted still.

How are you finding that new L322? I'm yet to make a decision on mine, it's come down to a 2011 Autobiography with 22kms on it in Sydney or a 2012 Luxury with 13,000kms in Perth.
Buying one in Perth certainly gets over the hassle of getting over to Sydney to inspect and then getting the thing back to WA.
Both about the same price.

Awesome Greg, and I'd go with the newest you can afford - I wouldn't bother with Autobiograpghy, the Luxury is brilliant and surely enough for most. Why don't you call a few major (Sydney and Melbourne) dealers and tell them what you are after - I was surprised ULR said they did sell a few TDV8 with e-diff each year so they could look out for one of these rare optioned cars for you (being traded on L405's, like mine was ...? )

Good advice, there's a Luxury available here for the right money, September 2012 model, 13,000km, (the owner's already bought a L405 5.0 supercharged.) It's white too, which I like, although the owner doesn't actually know if it has e-diff, not that it really matters much. I believe it has a bunch of options though, Dynamic pack etc, so it's pretty well loaded up. Currently has Kahn 22s! He has the original 20s in the garage, unused:-)
Probably will have a crack at that one then. Cheers for the heads up:-)
