Insurance for L322 - any recommendations?

Howdy all, picking up my 2012 L322 later this week, still haven't organised insurance, quotes vary wildly from $1228 and $450 excess (RAC) all the way up to $2200 a year (SGIO) for

Can anybody recommend a decent deal? YOUI quoted me a reasonable $1,007 annual but a whopping $2,000 excess.

    Thanks in advance folks:-)

PS: Just got a quote from APIA - $951 (Market Value $170K) or $1,034 (Agreed value) - and they won't go any lower than $137K on agreed value, which is fine by me since it's far more than I paid for the car. Fully insured off-road too. And no extra if you pay by the month. Sounds a pretty good deal to me.

What is your rating and what year is the car? Mine falls closer to your best quote, and I'm with GIO. Standard excess is $400, plus another $400 for an un nominated driver.

Youi was the most expensive when we did this excersize as SWMBO drives it almost into the city every day.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I've got the top level no claim bonus, excess is only $350. It's a white 2012 Vogue TDV8 Luxury. Covered for new car replacement till the end of this year, then agreed value for another year. I only do about 10,000k a year, and most of that is country trips as I only live 1.5km from my office.

Try APIA Chris, their underwriter is AAI. You get a whole bunch of extras too, you're covered for personal possessions in the car up to $1,000 per claim, towing home, accommodation etc if you're more than 150km from home etc etc.
I went through the wringer with a bunch of these companies today, some of them had ridiculous exclusions. Eg Allianz wouldn't cover it at all because it's got bigger-than-standard wheels/tyres on it. What th...? They're only 22s, I'm guessing hundreds of Rangies have 22s on them straight out of the showroom, particularly the new model Sports and L405s.

Go figure, I guess they really just didn't want the business.

Thanks Greg, will do; do you get choice of repairer with Apia? I recall that was a 'sales line' Allianz used - which TBH I never actually checked on (ie whether everyone else gives you that too) cheers

Yeah I was a bit surprised at how cheap it was. I guess the proof is in the pudding, ie when the rubber hits the road at claim time. I'm always suspicious of 'cheap'. In most things, you get what you pay for.
